Sieg X1 CNC conversion Episode 3 - DC motor controller failure

Belt drive conversion with new DC Speed Control.
Smooth and reliable spinning.

Chinese speed controller failed after a year and a half. Get a new Chinese one?...NO WAY.Chinese controller cost should have been around 20 Pounds - not 77. You should look for alternative. And Dart Controllers is the best alternative. Choosing controller is not a dilemma ...is common sense (77 Pounds vs 123 Euros...China vs US. (http://www.dartcontrols.com/product-guide/analog-dc-speed-controls/125d/)

It was also time to do something with the stupid plastic gearing. There was only one solution...Belt Drive. Timing Belt Pulleys and belt are from http://www.beaingranaggi.it/EN/prodotti.php. 20 teeth pulley, 40 teeth pulley and 116 mm belt drive total = 13 Euros.

Center to center distance: 70 mm. Belt 116 mm, 58 teeth. Aluminum pulley drive side 20 teeth, driven side 40 teeth. Ration 1:2. 2000 RPM max speed.

Remove everything!

Old speed controller already in garbage.

Gearing need some boring to fit tight on spindle (D 20 mm) and motor axle (D 8 mm).

Dart Controller.

Threading for secure/tightening screws.

Motor pulley.

Driven pulley. Make some space for the new controller.

New controller fits almost at the same place as the old one.

New controller position.Is installed/screwed on the casing (M3 threading)

Nice and clean.

Two of the tree motor body tighten screws has been moved slightly in order to adjust belt tension.
